The Real Full Monty Live nominated for an RTS Award

The Royal Television Society (RTS) is an educational charity promoting the art and science of television. It presents annual awards for the very best television in the previous year.

The Real Full Monty Live has been nominated in the Live Event category. The show, presented by Alexander Armstrong and Ashley Banjo, followed a group of celebrity men as they rehearsed the iconic strip routine from the end of the film, The Full Monty, culminating in a live performance.

The Real Full Monty Live, and its 2017 predecessor The Real Full Monty, have proved very successful in encouraging men to get checked for prostate and testicular cancer. This year's performance has already been filmed, and will be shown later this Spring.

The presentation ceremony for the RTS Awards will be at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, on Tuesday 19th March. We wish The Real Full Monty Live luck!

Kilimanjaro: The Bigger Red Nose Climb

In 2009 a group of celebrities climbed Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to raise funds for Comic Relief. This year a new set of climbers took on the challenge.

 

Alexander Armstrong teamed up with Strictly Come Dancing Head Judge Shirley Ballas, former MP Ed Balls, broadcaster Anita Rani, Love Island’s Dani Dyer, Dan Walker from BBC Breakfast, NFL pundit Osi Umenyioram and Little Mix members Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock to scale the 5895m peak. Almost all members of the group were affected by altitude sickness, some severely, but they battled on, aiming to reach the summit in the morning of 1st March.

A one-hour documentary on the climb will be broadcast on Wednesday 13th March at 9pm on BBC1, in the run-up to the main Comic Relief show that Friday. Were they successful? Well...

Comedians Pointless Celebrities, 10th March

As in recent weeks, there's a repeated Pointless Celebrities on Suinday 10th February, at 5.20pm on BBC1.

Competing this time are Sarah Millican and Gary Delaney, Jack Carroll and Terry Alderton, Lee Hurst and Arthur Smith, and Helen Lederer and Cariad Lloyd.

Sitcom Pointless Celebrities, 9th March

There's a sitcom-themed Pointless Celebrities on Saturday 9th March, at 6.45pm on BBC1.

Taking part are Kerry Howard, Neil Stuke, Robert Duncan, Susannah Doyle, Brigit Forsyth, James Baxter, Simon Greenall and Pauline McLynn.

New Hey Duggee shows!

Hey Duggee is an International Emmy and Kids' BAFTA-winning animation for children aged two to five, following Duggee the dog and his Squirrel Club. Narrated by Alexander Armstrong, it has become very popular with children and parents alike since its launch in 2014.

Recently the BBC has been showing a regular schedule of repeats, but new shows are back again from Monday 4th March at 7.35am, on CBeebies, starting with The Toothbrushing Badge. 

You might recognise Duggee and the Squirrels from the viral Stick Song. WARNING: do not watch if you want to avoid a major earworm!

 

Winter Olympics Pointless Celebrities, 3rd March

On Sunday 3rd March at 4.50pm (2.35pm in Scotland), the Winter Olympics special gets a repeat.

The contestants are Jayne Torvill and Clare Balding, Jenny Jones and Amy Williams, Graham Bell and Rhona Howie, Robin Cousins and Wilf O'Reilly..

There's no Pointless Celebrities on Saturday 23rd February because of 6 Nations rugby coverage, so instead there's a repeatedArts & Culture special on Sunday 24th at 4.45pm.
