The Real Full Monty

The Real Full Monty is a documentary, presented by Alexander Armstrong and Ashley Banjo, It sees a group of male celebrities come together to recreate the famous iconic striptease 20 years on from when the original film was released, all in aid of raising awareness for men’s health.

Xander and Ashley recruit famous faces who are brave enough to go the real ‘Full Monty’, and put the guys through their paces in preparation for the performance of their lives in front of 2,000 people at the London Palladium.

Xander said:
We are using this film to raise awareness of men's cancers (prostate and testicular), encouraging guys to check themselves and look out for their friends and act on symptoms if they have them. If caught early enough, prostate cancer is nearly 100 per cent curable, but if men are not aware of the problem or ignore symptoms, as story is not such a good one, as prostate cancer kills one man an hour.

I hope that by showing these men have the balls to strip off in front of thousands of people, it might encourage otherwise reluctant men to overcome their embarrassment and get themselves checked.
As they struggle to learn the moves and to take off their clothes to the music to reveal their bodies, conversation turns to the reason they are doing it, men’s health and their body issues, and concerns about getting naked. With little time to rehearse and the performance fast approaching, who will dare to bare all for a good cause?

The Real Full Monty airs on ITV1, on Thursday 15th June at  8.30pm.
